I’m New To WPT

Welcome to World Prayer Tabernacle. We are so glad that you are visiting with us. The ministry of World Prayer Tabernacle is rich in history, having its beginning as a small mission outreach in 1954. By God’s divine grace and plan, our ministry has grown throughout its many years and is presently a multi-campus ministry serving the Chalmette, Covington, and Metairie  communities. Although we are three distinct congregations, we are one in spirit and focus – to win the lost and make disciples. I am confident that no matter which campus you visit or attend, you will experience the presence of God and be touched by His love. To help you to learn more about us, we have provided information on the most commonly asked questions. Please take a moment to follow the links below. Also, see the OUR STORY page to read more details of our history as well as for our campus addresses.

I pray that God richly blesses you.

We believe in accountability and so we are joined with a national group that holds us accountable.

The term “non-denominational” is used to indicate that WPT belongs to a cooperative fellowship of churches that are autonomous – meaning that the authority of the church lies within the local church leadership.  WPT does not belong to a specific religious denomination.  Additionally, WPT does not receive funding from any parent denominational organization.  Rather, WPT exists and operates solely by the tithe and offering donations of its faithful givers.

The classic passage from the Bible that answers this question is John 3:1-21. The phrase “born again” literally means “born from above.” A born-again Christian is someone who has repented of their sins and turned to Christ for their salvation, and as a result has become part of God’s family forever.  New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes.

A “spirit-filled” church means that its ministry must embrace, live from, worship within, and promote the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, must be at the center, it must be the heartbeat.  A spirit filled church will manifest the fruit of the Spirit, including joy, and the gifts of the Spirit including prophecy and words from God ( Galatians 5:20-23 ). A spirit filled church is also infilled with Holy Spirit as in Acts 2.

Yes, WPT supports several missionaries that are actively spreading the gospel in foreign lands.  All missionaries supported by WPT share the same heart and vision of WPT, that is winning souls and making disciples.  All donations for missions are sent directly to our supported missionaries.

The first way to get involved at World Prayer Tabernacle is by joining a small group.  The leadership of WPT are passionate about the great ministry opportunity that small groups offer.  A small group is just that, a small group of believers that gather together weekly to study God’s word, mutually encourage one another, and pray for one another’s needs.  Small groups provide a place for you to belong, grow in relationship with other church members, and become an active part of the ministry of WPT.  Small groups are available around each one of our campuses and meet on most any night and even day of the week.  Please follow the link below to find a group meeting near you.
